FAQs
What will we do on a trip?
Our trips are filled with a wide range of experiences. Days will be filled with visiting our partner ministries, meeting families in need of sponsorship, participating in feeding programs, visiting orphanages and hospitals, playing with children, and shopping at fair-trade businesses that empower the marginalized. We aim to come alongside our partners with prayer and resources to further the work they're doing.
Where will we stay?
Ordinary Hero opened a Guest House in 2013 called the Ordinary Hero Life Center, which is where we stay for all of our trips. It is a beautiful four-story Guest House with amazing staff and a panoramic view of the city. Meals are prepared Western-style, transportation is provided each day by our trusted drivers. Internet connectivity is also included.
Is it safe?
Yes, we consider Ethiopia to be a safe place for travel. We have translators with us at all times throughout the trip to allow for clear communication with locals, and our Guest House is staffed with 24/7 guards. Ethiopia is known for being incredibly hospitable toward foreigners.
What do ground costs cover?
Ground costs cover lodging, transportation, a travel visa, three meals per day, in-country project money, tourist attractions (if needed), field staff tip, trip leader fee, and a trip t-shirt.
Can I visit my sponsored child?
Yes! We encourage trip members that sponsor a family to spend time engaging with their sponsored family and their community. If you sponsor a family through Talita Rise Up, you will need to check with our Trip Coordinator as to whether your team will be traveling to that site, as it is 6 hours from the city.
What is the age limit?
We ask that trip members are at least 16 years old if traveling alone. If traveling with a parent, we ask that trip members are at least 14 years old. If you have questions feel free to email us.
