Private School
“if you weren’t willing to help us, my daughter could have never gone to private school. Let God provide good opportunities for you as you have provided for us.”
— Rahema’s Mother, Private School Student
Why Private School?
Education is incredibly important when it comes to overcoming poverty, which means getting a good education is vital. This is especially true in Ethiopia where opportunities are scarce.
After the eighth and tenth grade, school dropout rates are extremely high due to the National Exam that concludes the year. If a student does not pass the Exam, they must repeat the grade, resulting in the high number of dropouts.
Students that attend private school have a much higher chance of passing the National Exam than those attending government school. By enrolling students living in poverty in private school, we are decreasing their odds of dropping out, and giving them a better chance to complete school and go on to higher education.
